The COURBET N°4 speaker, awarded the Diapason d’Or in December 2019!

The latest addition to the Courbet range, this revolutionary compact speaker will delight you with its numerous qualities. Ideal for small living rooms, it has been developed by incorporating all the strong features of the range to achieve the sound of a large floor-standing speaker.

With over 30 years of experience in speaker manufacturing, DAVIS Acoustics has once again created a custom-made transducer to adapt to the unusual volume of the enclosure. Positioned halfway between a bookshelf speaker and a traditional floor-standing column, the Courbet N°4 is equipped with a bass/midrange driver capable of remarkable performance. Once again, kevlar has been chosen for its ideal mass-to-rigidity ratio. The range’s tweeter complements this new driver perfectly.

The engineering work described above results in a very linear efficiency curve, allowing the speaker to completely disappear in favor of the music. You will be seduced by the subtlety of the sound message. No frequency is emphasized. This neutrality allows you to hear all the details of the recording without any auditory fatigue.

Once again, when the groundwork has been done (filter + drivers), the pairing becomes even easier. The Courbet N°4 can be paired with any type of electronics. It is this choice that will determine the character you want to give to the final listening experience (smooth, warm, dynamic, etc.). Let yourself be guided by the advice of your Courbet retailer.

The lowest resistance value is 4 ohms (which is often the case for current speakers). If your amplifier allows it, we recommend setting it to 4 ohms. Otherwise, the speakers can be connected to any current market amplifier.

A high-purity multi-strand copper cable (not included) is highly recommended for the amplifier/speaker connection. Once again, consult your retailer for advice. The speakers should be positioned symmetrically in relation to the listening area. A minimum distance of 30 cm from the walls (rear and side) is recommended. Finally, a set of 4 decoupling spikes is provided for each speaker. You can use them to decouple the speaker from the floor and achieve tighter bass response.

On Mag, le test

"Well, for a surprise, it's quite a shock! But in a good way. These very discreet speakers have all the qualities of a top-tier system, with their precise and melodious mid-high range. However, the extension in the low frequencies, aided by the cables and isolating pads, is truly remarkable. The depth and impact are far greater than one would expect from modest speakers, the power handling is impressive, and the speed of the frequency response is phenomenal. In short, the grand spectacle is here."

"When listening, the Courbet N°5 speakers are slim and delicate, yet they have a lot of energy. They deliver music with spirit, liveliness, and punchy bass. Their tonal balance is subtly physiological, characterized by brilliant and airy highs, and well-defined bass. However, the mid-range doesn't appear to be overshadowed. On the contrary, the sound reproduction in this range is very spontaneous and lively, while the other ranges blend with a beautiful naturalness." Read the full article here >
